  11. A Problem
  12. ---------

  14. As luck would have it, within two days of the release of WinNAV 3.00.60,
  15. a rather embarrassing bug was reported.  
  16.  
  17. It appears that when an error occurred the internal error message box
  18. would be called, but, instead of displaying an error message, it created
  19. a bigger error which in turn crashed WinNAV on some systems.  However, if
  20. you were one of those gifted individuals who never mis-typed a directory
  21. or file name, you could have gone for ever and never experienced this
  22. particular bug.

  24. There also was a problem in the print selected file function (File/Print
  25. popup menu) which is fixed by this update.

  27. A Solution
  28. ----------
  29.  
  30. WinNAV 3.00.61 was not expected to be released until several significant
  31. enhancements were added, which would have been several months down the
  32. road; however, the needed fix needed to get out before then.  Thus, the
  33. release 3.00.61 is now the bug fix, and the enhancements will appear in
  34. release 3.00.62 instead.

  36. The following distribution files constitute the full WinNAV 3.00.61 bug
  37. fix release.  The following distribution (self-extracting archive) files,
  38. when combined:

  40.     NAV060.EXE    The original 3.00.60 distribution files
  41.  
  42.     NAV!60.EXE    The bug fix release of (WINNAV.EXE); this
  43.             contains a replacement for the WINNAV.EXE
  44.             file contained in the NAV060.EXE archive
  45.  
  46. Or, the self extracting archive file NAV061.EXE, which contains all
  47. files from the two aforementioned distribution archives.

  49. We elected to distribute the fix and update in this fashion, so that
  50. those who previously acquired the NAV060.EXE archive would not again have
  51. to download all the duplicate file from services such as CompuServe.

  53. Therefore, if you already have NAV060.EXE, you need NAV!60.EXE, otherwise
  54. you only need NAV061.EXE.

  57. Additional Features
  58. -------------------

  60. WinNAV 3.00.61 does have at least a few minor enhancements.  If the user
  61. wishes to invoke a different Editor (invoked from the Action/Editor popup
  62. menu) or a different Print utility (invoked by the File/Print popup menu)
  63. the following keywords and application strings may be added to the 
  64. WINNAV.INI file [WinNAV] section:

  66.     Editor=C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE
  67.     Print=C:\WINDOWS\WINQPRT.EXE
  68.  
  69. The application drive, path and names can be changed as needed by the user,
  70. thus

  72.     Editor=WRITE.EXE
  73.  
  74. will load Microsoft Windows Write as the Action Editor.
